Market Drayton woman gets a shed for business

17 October 2017 0 Comments
  • Businesses run from home are common in Shropshire, but now a beauty business has been launched by a Market Drayton woman in her shed.

Ruth Smith has set up a business offering anti-ageing treatments like wrinkle-relaxing injections from a purpose-built cabin in the garden of her home.

Currently teaching officers at the Defence College of Healthcare Education and Training near Tamworth, as well as working on wards of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, she will be leaving the army shortly after completing 10 years’ service.

That will allow her to focus fully on her new venture, Face by Ruth.

“Having qualified in what is the ‘gold standard’ of medical treatment to injured and traumatised military personnel involved in a range of international incidents and conflicts, I am now planning this exciting new venture," she said.

“I have set up a purpose built clinic in the grounds of my home where I will provide a bespoke, client-focused and professional service, initially on a part time basis.

"I have been very fortunate to have been given advice and support from a friend in Worcestershire, who herself started off in a cabin in her garden at Clent, and is now a well-respected expert on facial aesthetics who travels the world for pharmaceutical companies, so, from humble beginnings …as the saying goes."

The premises conforms to all clinical legislation and will be used by Ruth to offer facial treatments to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

“As a member of the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses, I find it very rewarding to help people to feel better about themselves and I have already attracted clients, both men and women, from throughout Shropshire, the Potteries and West Midlands," she said.

“My partner Ainsley is a native of Market Drayton and a serving RAF officer and we have two young daughters, Lucrezia, aged four and Arianna, aged five months, to look after, so juggling family life and very busy careers is quite a challenge for us both.

“However, the pleasure I get from seeing somebody leaving the clinic with a smile on their face, after even the most basic treatment, makes everything completely worthwhile and I am very excited about being able to offer this service on a full-time basis as soon as I step down from the army.”

We bought a shed from ShedsFirst, it was easy to find the right size from the range on their website and the ordering process was simple. The shed arrived on time and was well packaged to prevent damage. The quality of the wood is really good. The only area that we cannot wholeheartedly praise is that the assembly instructions could have been clearer. But on the whole, we definitely recommend them.<br />
