Harrogate Spring Flower Show are looking forward to bumper year with a record number of entries for our giant veg competition this autumn!
Harrogate hope to welcome a record number of growers from all over the country, who spend their spring and summer carefully nurturing their giant veg, ready for the battle of the bulge this September.
They have 12 classes of marvelous monsters, including marrows, pumpkins, parsnips, carrots, leeks, beetroot, runner beans, tomatoes and potatoes.
Harrogate is also famous for its national onion championships and the annual weigh-in for the world record heavy onion.
Could the current record of 18lbs 1oz (8.19kg), set by Peter Glazebrook in 2012, be up for grabs? Visit Gardening Hall 2 at 12 noon on Friday 12 September to find out.
